Roundly insult all the people I have been staying polite with just because I needed to stay on the right side of them.

Time to say I know people here, friends, who have been through all this, and I don't mean this as a callous thread.

@ossobuco,
Go to the Bronx Zoo.
Go to the Metropolitan Museum.
Go the the Museum of Natural History.
Ride on the subway one more time.
Find a good home for my plants.
Try to see old friends (one from first grade lives upstate; one from junior high lives in California).
Eat lobster at least once a day.
Eat a steak.
Somehow get a ride on a sailboat (on the ocean).

Can you tell I've given this some thought?

@ossobuco,
I'd definitely donate all my clothes that aren't 500% comfortable right off.

I'd use the good dishes at every meal.

I don't look at it from the same perspective, so haven't an answer.

I am reminded of a story told by Sofie Gråbøl, the star of the Danish TV Series Forbrydelsen ("The Killing"). The series gripped Denmark, and later the UK and a number of other countries (The US remake is said to be pretty cheesy). Anyhow, apparently a Danish lady was in hospital, not long to live, and likely to die any day, probably before the upcoming series finale. She was reconciled to this, and the only thing she was bothered about was leaving this world without knowing who was the murderer in the series. The hospital contacted Gråbøl, who went to see her and wrote a summary of the finale on a sheet of paper, sealed it in an envelope and gave it to her, requesting she keep the information to herself.

What to do if I have six months left to live?
It all depends - do I have the strength to do anything, see anybody, eat anything special.
Or will my time be spent with a few very close friends now and then?
How has it been when I have had to say good bye to some very close?
Everything for death had been taking care of, will, where to be buried.
Nothing practical to ask about. A time which was quiet, still not at all
awful, someone who was thankful for a fulfilled and in many ways a good
life.
I have in no way a clotted home, but almost everything I have has a story
and some of these goes back decades and centuries. I like to make the ones who are no more to live now and then by looking at and using things and remember or even tell the story.
I have a couple of paintings and several (40) selfmade Christmas cards by an artist. A musuem was interested in this artist so they got all the Christmas
cards. This way they are were they should be.
I have many other things that have landed "where they belong"
