So I am making a video with puppets. The puppets represent two of my friends one happens to be a white guy the other happens to be a black guy. So what should I do? I get that blacking up is racist etc. But is making a puppet using brown material racist??? Please help. Any advice how I should work this thing. Thanks.

No it would not be racist.
It's a shame that someone nowadays has to worry about appearing racist when they are making a representation of a human.
People come in all colors.
As do muppets.
