I have long not liked trick or treat as cute (too cold in Chicago) and, oh, stupid., especially on my birthday or the day before. Now, in New Mexico, neighbors on either side of me have had decorations up for about three weeks. For me it it is watching unreal.
They have not been excluded from the lot. Long haired hippies are a subset minority in the realm of freakdom I suppose....

@ossobuco,
Meantime, I see myself as exceptionally crabby around halloween time. The rest of you have fun. Maybe I'll shut up next year.

This one runs a little long, at eleven and half minutes, but it's a classic. From another classic, Disney's 1941 motion picture Fantasia, "Night on Bald Mountain," by Modest Mussorgsky.

From Camille Saint-Saëns, "La Danse Macabre" and again by Disney:
Halloween may be over, but I can't get this little earworm out of my head...

Last night was the best Halloween in years.
I played spooky, creepy sounds on my I Pad and about 40 cute kids showed up to trick or treat. No hulking teenagers.
The costumes were precious and I had just enough candy to make it til the end.

We had more than we would have thought. The Girl gave out pencils, small note pads, stickers and some small packets of hard candy. Apparently, there is move now to tone down the sugar rush of traditional trick or treat. The kids seemed to like, some children from a party a few houses down came running over to get stickers before The Girl shut it down.
