If the planet is going to be inhabited by humans (us), then it's best that it has a 25 hour day.
[if left to ourselves, and not day light distribution and social convention, most of us would go to sleep one our later and wake up one hour later each day. 25 hours would be great).

One of the island-continents of Atookaia is named Ikorni. It's large, chaped like a chili-pepper. It has several climates.

Well, like, nobody was doing MOONS or anything!

Ok - how about two moons? One of them blue, cos it's made of.....er....something blueish? (Desperately seeking blueish minerals....)

What was your planet like, Craven?

We are doing lots of sea, right? Then we have lots of reefs - made by some sort of coral-like creature, cos reefs is cool - and you can see lots of critters there...

Definitely reefs.

There has to be something atmospheric that can make the moon(s) look blue...

Wasn't ATOOK Ringo Starr's character's name in "Caveman"? This planet is really named after him, not some greek gibberish, right?

My planet is a secret. If I let people like bunny in my world would fall to pieces.

BTW we are not gonna use hours. Anything based on increments of 60 is clumsy. We can call it hours if ya want but it's gotta be based on 10s and 100s.

Atookaia
Now on the subject of "fantasy"

Lets have all "humans" on Atookaia have only ears, no mouths!
That would solve a lot of the "interaction" problems, (even to the detriment of one, I can think of) but, in order to prevent their starving to death, we will have them run on electricity, instead of the remains of other living creatures.
This will have the added bonus of removing the paracitic tradition from the social fabric.

Now we can have "fun", not at the expense of others!

Deb, Timber has a piture of a beautiful moonscape in one of his posts. The moons could be of azurite or amazonite. One should remain the same as our moon, white with variations ranging to the gold of the harvest moon.

If we go with fbaezer's 25 hour day, we would have a slightly longer night in which to enjoy the sight of two moons--which means that I would like part of my island to be a desert; there is nothing more beautiful that a desert night, spectacular with two moons!

The ocean surrounding my island will have the little phosphorescent organisms that glow in the water. When you swim, it looks like you're leaving a trail of stardust.

(Would it be too far removed from reality for the people inhabiting this world to be amphibious? How I would love to be able to stay under water for hours at a time.) Parenthises to make my tangent less offensive for CDK. LOL

Bogowo, I really want a mouth--for a variety of reasons......

Indeed, Diane.....

I am warming to the idea of inventing an island for myself, too - otherwise this all gets too chaotic.

Thank you for solving the moon problem! Yes for the two moons you invented! I think our day needs to be about 30 "hours" - or craven will have a non-decimal fit!

I have been thinking of sea-people - hence the question about scales which nobody has taken seriously...waaaaaah.

I have just remembered the name of Lilliput's sister kingdom, which Craven mentioned at the start of the thread - Blefescu!

Mad
don't diss the island or the island might release some volcanic gas in your general direction.

giggling uncontrolably..how come farts and pooh do that anyway?

I cant take credit for the Patookus...theres a count around here responsible for that.....

and might I say...I think Patookus is a fine thing...preferably upwind but, hopefully its not a requirement.

I propose a ratio of 10 females to every male. It would help people the planet.

Any objections?
