Starting with page 365, recommendations for what needs to be done will be enlightening to everyone.

You'll also notice, BBB, that all the papers run by the people who run Fox didn't provide the text either... most didn't even put the news of it on front page.
Anyway, thanks, BBB. This should be an interesting read.
Prolly because there is no political ammo in it, it blames neither this or the last admin.
The media has already moved on to reacting to the recommendations of the Commission.
No real food for the newspapers to feed on...

Where is the public service spirit of the US Media?

The real story is in the footnotes
The real story is in the footnotes, not the summaries reviewed by the lazy journalists and Media. It's important to read the entire text's footnotes to find out what happened and who is responsible.
Most of the public will be too lazy to read the text and footnotes, thus protecting the bad news about our so called leaders, including the Congress and the Executive Branch and its agencies. The suck-up portion of the Media have nothing to brag about either.
I posted the text so A2Kers could be better informed than the rest of the sheep.

Good for you, BBB. People can complain about this' having no meat. Matters of security and incompitence shouldn't need anything on their bones.
(Not that I'm saying that Brand X is complaining.)
The most important findings of the 9/11 commission were already known before the commission starting releasing its 'findings'.
- Lack of cohesion between the various intelligence agencies. For example, various people made allusions to "an invisible wall" between the CIA and FBI. Had that wall been more porous, perhaps we would have been able to synthesize the information and use it to our advantage.
- Bumfuckery with the FAA, who was apparently completely unprepared for the posibility of suicide hijackings, resulting in a series of delays and bad decisions that precluded the possibility of stopping the planes before impact.
- Reluctance to use military force against Osama Bin Laden, largely caused by difficulties what qualifies as "actionable intelligence." Several attempts at decapitation strikes were vetoed because they did not live up to the standard of "actionable intelligence."
- A general inability to deal with terrorist financing. The entire Sept 11th operation probably cost from 500,000 - 1,000,000, yet nowhere along the line was this money trail traced back to dubious sources.
- Although there was sporadic, low-level contacts between Iraqi's and Al-Qaida, none of these resulted in a "collaborative relationship." Big surprise, there.
- Basic problems with New Yorks 911 system, that prevented thousands of people from getting potentially life-saving information.
- A underestimation of the threat by terrorism. This lead to a lack of diligence on the part of the government - both Bush and Clinton - and indirectly lead to alot of failed opportunities, because people weren't quick enough to act, didn't pay enough attanrtion, didn't have the right equipment on time, etc.
There is alot more; that's just what I can remember off the top of my head. However, alot of these 'findings' - the CIA/FBI divide, the imaginary nature of the Iraq/Al-Qaida link, etc - were known long, long ago, and are now being trumpeted as some kind of revelation. Am I alone in this?
Baaa! Sheep should only be served as a crown roast. And I love to roast them.
