#libspill2 has given us a new pm. Malcolm Turnbull. 54 - 44 by the parliamentary liberal party on a platform of "this **** sandwich needs be talked up a bit"
His term of just on two years is the shortest of an elected pm since Holt hitched a ride on Chinese submarine in 1967ish and is third ousting of a pm by his/her colleagues in 5 years, making Australia one of the most unstable democracies in the pacific.
Big night on Twitter. Will do some collation tomorrow.
@hingehead,
Why do I feel so happy? He's already announced no change on things like asylum seeker policy.
But there's joy!!!!!
@dlowan,
I felt the same when the Tories ousted Thatcher, but they then went on to win the 92 election.
@izzythepush,
I imagine Shorten is shitting himself about the debates come election time. I wonder if Turnbull will be able to restrain himself from saying "It's 'with' Bill, not 'wiv'."
@dlowan,
I wasn't sure whether I wanted Tony to get arseholed by the electorate or his party more. Still doing the schadenfreude calculations.
We're all just glad that the middle aged white male catholic private school Rhodes scholar got in.
They can throw this bike in the van
@hingehead,
You know, no matter how awful they are, I always find sympathy for them as the pack hunts them down....
And then there were none.

Not me. Abbott's a maggot.
Let's hope he does a Rudd and destabilises the Libs to the point that they can't win next year.

I feel the same. Regardless of what happens now I took great pleasure in Abbott's humiliation yesterday and when I got out of bed this morning I was happy all over again when I realised that it would be our first day without him as PM.

That picture should have seen an immediate end to all their political careers.
@dlowan,
I can't believe they dropped the apostrophe. Scum.

I like Turnbull as much as anyone else, and it worries me.
The fact of his not being Abbott probably only modifies the more extreme policies. Abbott was leading the Libs to a single term, but Turnbull can likely get in again.
@spikepipsqueak,
Yep. So who will replace Shorten?
@Pearlylustre,
I can only imagine
that ousting my sitting member
adds another term or two to the coalition of the shilling.
@nacredambition,
Don't get me started on your sitting member! ( Oh I already did. )
