New smily needed

Reply Fri 16 Jul, 2004 01:09 pm
I think the political thread needs a new smily that indicates "I am being a smart ass, please ignore this post as I am just trying to lighten things up, or add levity to this thread. Please do not take this post seriously."

I know Cavfancier will over use it ( ), but I think it would be nice to have.

Either that or designate one to mean that.

Cav does not deserve to be ignored; but, your idea is impressive, McGentrix. And so, from my labour of love, I have created an emoticon that epitomises the sentiment of 'smart-arsedness.' And that emoticon is:

Perfect, right?

Looks more like he's jerking off. Very appropriate.

I think all smilies and "LOL" such abbreviations should never be used. Especially if you have a penis between your legs(your own, I mean).

Well that's a thought Slappy, but there are some on A2K who don't believe you're joking if you don't use a smiley. Some don't think you're joking if you do.

McG has a practical solution here. I do think the moderator should post an ultimatum though that nobody may be taken seriously if the joke smiley is used.

Boy, that would have the potential to get abused.

I like emoticons just to really emphasis something in the same way when someone uses an exclamation point or uses bold (or something other than make a different between authors)

I guess what I am trying to say is that what a person is trying to convey don't come across without some kind of label or icon to identify it then maybe other words should be used, or maybe the reader is just slow on the uptake. (like me I don't get a lot of jokes whether they have a picture telling me it is a joke or not)
