My Sunday started out the usual way - going to the gym. And I read about 'Schmidt' in Newsweek while riding the exercise bike. I guess it will still take a while until we can see the movie in Germany. It sounded very interesting.

In the afternoon a friend and me visited our friend Maria in the hospital. She gave birth to little Bruno Matteo last Wednesday.

And I still had some time with BigDice and the cats on the sofa :-)

Now, that's a busy Sunday! But a good one ...Sounds like you have to PLAN to fit everything in! Laughing I'm sure Maria & little Bruno were as pleased to see you as you were to see them!
But Very Happy the best time was "sofa time", yes? Very Happy

Bruno was asleep. But he looked happy and cute! Maria said she had to wake him to feed him before her breasts exploded ;-)

And yes, the sofa time. The best part of the day, msolga!

A very lazy & COLD (!) Sunday here in Melbourne, Oz.
Perfect for going back to bed this morning & reading the Sunday paper with the cats. They're still there & I've been A2King for a couple of hours now, in my pyjamas! Too cold to get dressed! Shocked
Why is winter a shock, every single year? Rolling Eyes

I've been sweating all day in the muggy heat (a friend came over to play video games, so i turned off the ac, and opened the door to air out the cigarette smoke). What is winter like in Oztralia, Boss? Is it the whole snow and jingle bells thing? How do you get along?

Oh, Setanta, I envy you being in a hot place!!!! Only place to be, in my opinion! Very Happy

Winter in Oz? Well it depends where you are in Oz. It's a big place. In the north it's much warmer than Melbourne, Victoria, which is located in the "bottom" of the mainland.
What's it like? Bloody cold! This week the wind (from the antarctic) has really set in ... brrrrrrrrr Shocked .... Along with the rain & hail! Yes, it's snowing further north, in the mountains. Brrrrrrr.
Shocked We Melbournians LOVE to whinge about the weather! It is one of our favourite pastimes! Laughing This is known as a "4 seasons in one day" city .. Very changeable. But right now it feels rather Chicago-like.
Which means we either go to all sorts of lengths to avoid the great outdoors (like me & my cats today) or else people throw themselves into Aussie Rules football & freeze to death supporting their team. (I'm not that silly! Very Happy )
In short, it's a great time to hybernate, visit warm cafes, whinge about the conditions, debate politics, read & introspect!
Roll on spring!!!!!!!! Everything changes then.

I have a sort of grumbling hangover, and I haven't been outside.

Woke up very early in that jangled, irritated hangover way, and found the place entirely blanketed in fog! Very pretty.

I have been sleeping and reading and doing odds and sods of housework and logging on for a few minutes every now and then.

The cats have decided they like hangovers, since I stay stiller, don't go out, and can be sat upon with impunity.

Setanta - where I am winters can be quite chilly and wet - but there are often lovely, sunny, clear days followed by cold, crisp nights.

Perfect weather, that, as far as I am concerned. We call it good sleeping weather - a thing we notice since summer can be soooooooo hot.

Woke up way TOO chipper this morning. Called Setanta and peeped cheeped at him Laughing

Making a cup of tea to hold me through til I meet a friend for breakfast. We're going out to a diner. Much nicer than the fussy brunch places. Much nicer.

It's going to finally be a warm day, so I'll have to poke around in the spring/summer clothes to find something to wear that isn't too warm.

The work week here in the Middle East has Thursday and Friday as the weekend. Sunday is just another work day.

It's miserably hot and humid here offshore today. No wind and calm seas. I did take a break and watched a pod of dolphins around the Platform for a few minutes.

Sundays
Sunday is not much different than the other days of the week since I retired. The biggest difference is that on Saturdays and Sundays, I like to watch C-SPAN's book TV. I can listen to it while doing other things around the house.

Right now, I'm doing a lot of hand watering in my front and rear yards. We installed a lot of new plant materials for my relandscaping project and its 100 degrees outside in the afternoons. The extra watering of new plants will keep them healthy until the monsoon season arives in Albuquerque in about two weeks.

Unfortunatly, my landscape contractor said its probably too late in the season to plant the tomatoes and strawberries I wanted in my new raised wooden planter box. I'm so disappointed that I won't enjoy them this year and will have to settle for the god-awful stuff in ABQ's grocery stores.
I'm spoiled from having lived most of my life near Berkeley's gormet ghetto where the produce was wonderful. I'm going to hunt for some farmer's markets to see if I can find any better tasting quality produce.

MsOlga - new job - do tell!!!
(or have you already told and I missed it?)

Clear and cold in Sydney this am (approaching 6.30). Around 5C right now. I went on a shopping frenzy yesterday - need suitable clothes so I can look for a new job!. This morning will be devoted to cleaning house (house sitter has unusual standards of cleanliness! - If you don't wear your glasses you can't see what screams for cleaning!), and tormenting cat. My knee is not good enough to play tennis.

Lunch at a favourite restaurant. Rehash travel stories - and start on the planning for the next trip, maybe.

Hello margo. Welcome back!!!! Very Happy

I hope your 5 degree morning turned sunny as the day progressed. It's beautifully sunny here in Melbourne this afternoon, but a definite chill in the air. Anyway, hope you're out, enjoying yourself after lunch & travel stories ... Yes, begin planning that next trip, NOW!!! Very Happy
Sorry to hear that your knee is playing up - a damn nuisance!

Yes, new job ... still teaching, but closer to home with a few other advantages thrown in. It couldn't be worse than my last position <shudder, shudder> ... At least I won't have to get up at 6 am every week morning & commute such a huge distance Shocked ....

And YOU are planning to change jobs, too! Is there something in the air right now? ... Good luck! Very Happy Fingers crossed for you, margo.

P.S. ... Do you have a "Margo's Travels" thread? Love to hear your stories!

Oh this SUnday was fun !! Got up late - read the newspaper cover to cover with a hot mug of tea. Then went horse riding for an hour, came back and cleaned my bedroom - there were clothes everywhere !!! Paid the bills, threw the junk mail and then a long siesta !! Got up in the evening, arnd 1800, made myself a tall, cold drink (Vodka, ginger beer with crushed ice) - watch a movie on TV, had dinner and slept again.

Forgot that I had a luncheon party, host called up and was not very happy !!!!

It's almost 3 pm & I've just emerged from my bed on this freezing cold Sundayday. Brrrrrrrrrrrr!
Have read the papers (today's AND yesterday's), chatted on the phone to a couple of friends, wrestled the cat for my share of the bed, dined on toasted raisin bread & raspberry jam & generally had a very nice time, thank you! Very Happy
But boy, is it nasty outside! Rain, wind & grey sky. Shocked On a day like this bed is best!

G'day MsOlga
Fantastic day in Sydney! Blue skies, but cool and a fair breeze.

I'm suffering from inertia, though - and have read moost of yesterday's paper - but haven't made a start on today's yet!

I'm cooking up some tomato and chili jam, to make use of some big bags of roma tomatoes, on special. I can't quite get the taste I'm looking for, and the chilis are not that hot, either Confused Still good with meat, cheese, etc.

I must be in a cooking mood - I'm doing a roast tonight - some pork and a free- range chook. And a ton of roast veges. I'll have enpugh food for a week.

Then gonna hit the boozer. Need to stock up a bit Twisted Evil

Feeling better?

Yep, visitors welcome. C'mon up!

Does seem a fair way to come for a free feed! The airfare alone'd buy dinner in a fancy restaurant Confused
