@tsarstepan,
The two birds that gave me the most enjoyment over a lifetime are Donald Duck and Uncle Scrooge.

I've had a Northern Shrike around the homestead since January. He's started singing now — quite a chatterbox. Interesting birds that hunt insects, frogs, small mammals, and even other birds. They might be confused with a Mockingbird— but not up here, since we don't have mockers.

@edgarblythe,
our mockingbirds are real comedians. They perch on the chimneys and holler down into the house. We have to keep the dampers shut down in the summer.

@farmerman,
A guy I worked with hated mockingbird serenades so much he shot one off his chimney with a pellet gun. I was not happy about it, but it was all over with by the time he spoke about it. Personally, I feel honored to get to listen to one.

One belligerent mocking bird used to stalk me. But when it landed in the yard one day my dog killed it. I was not happy a second time, but what can you do?

@edgarblythe,
mockingbirds can be aggressive our cats are always scurrying about beneath bushes and in dense plantings in order not to walk too much in the open. The mockingbirds will attack the cats and pluck hair for trophies.
I wouldn't think of killing one, Their songs are beautiful even though they can be somewhat annoying. I like to whistle up q new musical phrase and see how long before they can copy it. Some of them take a few minutes while others dont seem interested in my territorial songs

@farmerman,
I thought I was the only one who did this anymore. I've been trying to teach my grandson to do it without talking about it.

...and it is a sin to kill a mockingbird...

@Lash,
Wink we had cat named Scout, she was always being targeted by mockingbirds. Coincidence? I think not
