I thought the best line (I saw it on C-Span, taped) was when Elaine Marshall (Secretary of State, NC) was giving her introduction, she stopped in the middle to announce a missing child. She read out the child's description, etc and resumed her speech. Two minutes later, she announced that the child had been found.

Without missing a beat, she said, "See how quickly we can find people?" (referring to Bush's failure to find Osama).

It drew a HUGE roar of approval from the crowd.

That crowd, BTW, looks like a few thousand people:

I'll be interested in reading Squin's ground-zero account.

That's because it was one section Pdid....the news is reporting 25,000 showed up. Unfortunately squinney was unable to make it down and she was HIGHLY disappointed.

She has contacted the campaign headquarters to help out and offered her services as an events planner and balloon designer to them, and of course anything else we can do to help.

If bush is reelected, and I still have a sinking feeling he might be, it won't be on account of anyone in the Bear household I can tell you.

I would have liked to been there, but I was out of town playing rock star.

Bi-polar: Good afternoon. I hang out at various political sites with nimh and timber et al. The question is this: can Sen Edwards deliver NC (with 15 electoral votes) to the Dems? How about VA? WV? SC? Those would be good, but he has got to deliver NC. Got to.
BTW, my employee Andy is 2/3rd's way his US tour with his band. Two weeks plus to go. They are having fun.
Oh, to be that young again -rjb-

very cool...what band? And being young is a state of mind.....I'm very young......

I think NC will probably unfortunately remain staid and republican........but we'll see...and make efforts.....all you can do.....I have personally swung a few voters I know over from the darkside.....

The most creative excuse for missing work came from a NC kid a few years ago: "I forgot to get an absentee ballot so I have to go home to vote against Helms."
Young? Of course you are, but can you still sleep on the floor of a van covered with Taco Bell wrappers?
Andy is into goth/industrial. I'm not sure what that is, but it is an interesting sound. Quite dark with roots in Europe.
I'll pm you with links to Andy's band: bellamorte.
Please check out his journal. He struggled to finish high school but he has developed a keen eye and ear. He writes well. -johnboy-

I'll look forward to it and yes I can still sleep eight to a van and live on a taco and 24 beers a day if necessary. Might as well get used to it, less the 24 beers, if bush is reelected. Razz Laughing

Twenty-five thousand supporters -- two and one half times greater than the campaign estimated -- showed up, in 90-degree heat:

the drummer for my band is the concessions manager for the Wolfpack and although he was out of town with me, was told at work that it was pandemonium on campus because so many people showed up......gotta love it...

Just spoke with Dave again...he says although it was hectic and that turnout was unexpected they handled it in stride...about 400 people fell out from the heat....squinney and I own two of those mist tents and squinney has emailed the campaign headquarters to volunteer them for their use at any future events they do in this area......
