Gee, that's the same answer, Cy, if you substitute "John Edwards" and insert "George W. Bush".
Never noticed that before. Thanks, Mill, for pointing that out.

Yeah, I was going to write much the same thing, Pdiddie, but thought someone else would quickly make the same observation, lol.

By the time John Edwards was eligible for the draft, men were not being called. The Viet Nam War was over and the move towards the all volunteer army had begun.

In politics there is always a big deal about whether or not a candidate campaigning for U.S. presidency has acquired any military experience. In the future, to avoid this problem, they should make serving in the military, a prerequisite to the presidency and vice presidency.

I think the same branch as Dick Cheney.
Of course there was no draft to squeak out of in Edwards' day as in Cheneys'.

So, John Edwards didn't volunteer?

Although, there's John Kerry of course.
And McCain.
Who else has Bush ran against? I detect a pattern ;-)

In the past, anyone eligible for the draft could defer it if they were continuing their education by attending college. IMO draftees with very high social and monetary status avoided the draft this way.

Kerry and McCain both volunteered, neither were drafted.
List of all who served and those who didn't and why.

Yeah, we've seen that "fair and balanced" list before. Why the glaring absence of Billy Clinton? Also notice that the list would make you believe that not a single democ-rat failed to serve their country...

Hey I'm willing to look at any "fair and balanced" link you care to provide that would dispute the facts on this one. Plus I didn't claim it to be "balanced" however if you can refute the facts please do.

Facts and opinion about facts are very different things.
Show me a site that lists every politician from either side and what they did during that time period without the cute little commentary and then we can discuss facts.

Sorry possibly you misunderstood. The list is factual! and if you can SHOW ME where it isn't then I am all eyes. I would also welcome any list of your that showed all. Just because it didn't include Clinton doesn't make it untruthful.
So unless you can provide something to show it being "opinion" based then it stands as a factual list. See just because you don't want to see it as such doesn't make it non factual. How this works is you need to show me where the facts are untruthful THEN you get to claim it as opinion only.
