Or, he could have a reasonable question.

There have been times in the past when American leaders have not been well received abroad, and it is usually the result of the perception in other countries that the United States is exploiting them for selfish motives.

When Nixon was Veep, he travelled to Venezuela to represent Eisenhower, and there was a really nasty incident, which some commentators have claimed lead Nixon to avoid appearing before foreign crowds thereafter except in tightly controlled circumstances. On the other hand, some have observed that this may have been the genesis of his careful study of foreign affairs, which had not previously mattered to a young Representative from California.

I think the Shrub and his foreign policies have created this atmosphere.

Setanta, the fact that I responded with 'too much spare time nowadays' was because the answer to TruthKeeper's question was just too obvious.

What is obvious to some is not necessarily obvious to all, Boss, which is why people ask questions. From my perspective, the answers to about 95% of questions about the American presidency are obvious. But i realize not only that those from other nations know little of our history, but that this describes many Americans as well.
