Hi there, I was wondering if there was any problem wiring a two way switch in the following manner, because I already did for some lamps in my house and it seems to work, while requiring a lot less wiring(from SPDT switch to SPDT switch for ex.),but is definitely not the usual way.
Here is how I did it very simply: I connect each light switch(L1 & L2 connections) to both a neutral and live wire, then connect the outgoing single COM of each SPDT switch to one of the 2 connections on the lamp!
I apologize for my obvious ignorance, but can anyone think of why I may not do it this way: is it dangerous for some reason? Because it really works and saves me a lot in labor and materials, as I do not have to connect both SPDT switches to each other, etc.. Thank you in advance.

@moorea,
Suggesting more and more strongly, Moor, that a simpler and more convenient means of fielding the sketch, should be pursued

OK, but how do you run the wires from the COM to the lamp?

Cables come with white (for neutral), black (for hot) and bare wires. In this case, lets talk with color of wires because in a three way switch neutral and hot can be used with black or white wiring.

You connect from source white and black to L1 and L2. From L1 and L2 one cable will run to the other switch white and black to L1 and L2.

You have one COM in one switch, and another COM in the other switch.

From here, from one of the switches one single wire (white or black) will go to the lamp, same with the second switch.

It sounds fine as long as these single wires are not running inside the wall, because AC current must be run in cables with proper insulation approved by UL. So far, you must use a pipe or a mold to protect the single wires coming from the COM of both switches, and that is more work.
