electrical wiring question

I am renovating bathroom and want to remove old 24 yr old intercom box. Can it just be closed in and sheetrocked once the outside cap is removed or does it require electrician to do something to make it safe. Don't want it to be a fire hazard by just closing it up. Thanks.

@rtt81073,
What kind of electrical enclosure is behind it now? If it is in an electrical box, you should be able to cap the wires and close it up with no issues. If it is not in an electrical box, then it might be low voltage (similar to your phone lines) and not be a concern either.

I think its better you should get it done from the electrician if you are not much aware of how it should be done. Getting it done from electrician would be safe.

@engineer,
What you advised is dangerous and illegal! Have you ever heard of the NEC or NFPA?????
