German Paintings - help identifying artist

According to the signature, the painter is from/painted in Frankfurt(Main.

Quite a few of his (her?) paintings have been auctioned in the USA - and that are the only sources I could find.
Since he isn't mentioned in any list of painters, my guess is that these paintings were done "especially" for US-soldiers.

I could not make out the artists name.

There is a listing of Marine Artists N American and European . If the artist were listed, it would be there

That would make sense - my Great Aunt and her Husband were stationed in Germany during WW2 and for a while after, which is where they got the paintings.

The painter's name is "W. Steckelberg" ("FFM" means 'Frankfurt/Main')
