Hi everybody.

I got to learn a word 'lecherous' in this sentence.

"It's hard for men not to give a lecherous glance at a cheese cake.'

Wondering what 'lecherous' possibly could be, I looked up my dictionary whose explanation is
- a lecherous man is someone who leers at people with the sole thought of sex on his mind.

Aha. So 'lecherous' is pretty much like 'lustful', I concluded.

Still, what's puzzling is, why would it be so hard for men
not to give a lustful glance at a cheese cake?

Is a cheese cake something that makes guys sexually aroused?
What's so special about a cheese cake?

Could you please explain that?
Thanks.

It's just a way for him to say he really wanted that cheesecake.

@SMickey,
It is stretching the language to make a point, making his lust for such a rich tasting dessert almost a sexual experience.

@chai2,
My guess was 'a cheese cake' is a slang which refers to a very hot woman.
I was completely wrong, wasn't I?
Thanks.

@SMickey,
No! Actually the word 'cheesecake' might refer to naughty picture of women...sort of like those that were before the time when they weren't quite so explicit to be called pornography. Legs and bathing suit images can be called cheesecake pics.

However, referring to 'a cheesecake', may in fact, be more literal meaning where someone is actually speaking of the food item. The rest of that paragraph may provide more context.

@Ragman,
Oh now I see why cheesecake or something like that was mentioned.
It's interesting to realize that those pics were called cheesecake ones.
Every single English word, however simple it may look, seems to contain quite a lot of meanings in it. English is so tough!

Thanks for the explanation. It helped a lot.

This is cheesecake. It is absolutely delicious, one of the richest foods ever concocted. Who doesn't find this sexually arousing?
