When I was a kid, I sat through a sermon in which the preacher tells the story of a woman who cheated on paying tithes. God struck her down for that. My cousin, in about 1959, waited for a friend, sitting in a church. The minister is delivering his sermon, when the friend arrives and my cousin gets up to meet him. "If you walk out that door, I hope God strikes you dead." He sat back down. There was lots of striking dead in the old sermons. I haven't had the pleasure of hearing any recent ones, for comparison.

@edgarblythe,
I wish these churches would still let me in. I am now banned from every one in town.

All just because I take a hell of a lot more out of the basket than I put in when they pass it around. Can you BELIEVE that ****!? Where's the charity? Where's the compassion? Where's the forgiveness? Aint they heard that they got no damn business judging, or nuthin? Tightwad hypocrites, the whole lot, I figure.

As the great Robert Johnson done said, that there one time, and all...

If I had possession....
over judgment day....
aint nunna these skanks I been lovin...
would have no right to pray.

Dog was particularly friendly with me today.

We run together till I was out of breath.

He looked at me as he had made a good joke.

We will see how it works out tomorrow.

@timur,
Every now and again, I walk my neighbor's dog for him when he's out of town. I get a long leash, tie it to the handles of my streetbike, and take off. Fast. He's a lab, and he will keep up for a good long spell.

Problem is, he's stupid. He's always trying to run off after something interesting he sees while he's tied to the sickle. Has almost pulled the bike over a few times. Other times, he hits the end of the leash, loses his balance, and falls over. Then he gets drug for awhile, which ya would think might learn his sorry ass, but, naaaaaaaw.

@timur,
I fear I'm polyfleaist. I believe in two dogs.

But I used to own a cat - I was an afleaist.

I am glad there is dog and not moose. I don't think I can walk a moose.

I think if there were no dog we would have to invent him.

@edgarblythe,
Yes, but we'd create dog in our own image.
