Well Frank can be a bit of a jerk sometines, but we all do have our moments. You and me too.

Take him as he is and don't worry about it. Frank and I seldom agree but I find occasional pleasure in the discourse with him.

I believe in educating people in liberal principles: elimination of war and war profiteering, safety nets and healthcare for all, education for all, law that works for everybody rather than just the wealthy and cliques such as racist cops and courts, regulated public utilities, regulated capitalism, well funded scientific research, banks and such regulated and accountable, free choice in matters of religion, sex, marriage, etc., separation of church and state, gun control, unions. In short - revolution, until we get it right. That I don't believe there is a god has nothing to do with any of it.

You'd need a god to do that fast.

Otherwise it will take centuries and even millennia to achieve that result.

It's an ideal and a goal, in my mind. Anything short of that is failure as a race.

I'll agree that god has nothing to do wiuth the beliefs you indicated. However I wonder about the realism of your expressed beliefs. Do you know how to eliminate war. Mankind has not yet found a way and there is no indication of any real progress in recorded history.

Human beings, even liberals, tend to pursue their self-interests, even in defiance of popular conceptions of the proper interests of others. Interestingly that also occurred in the socialist states of the former Sovier Union which degenerated into a criminal enterprise which ironically was the only element of the former state to have survived its collapse. Same goes for profiteering. How will you go about eliminating that? How do you find the uncorruptable regiulators required to achieve your other beliefs and aims? Even Plato conceded that his philosopher kings don't exist.

It seeme to me that your beliefs are even more unrealistic than those that you so vigorously deny.

I am familiar with Robinson's work. And I am aware that we are at present moving away from those goals, rather than approaching them. Nevertheless, it is what I strive for.

There's no reason to abandon one's ideals, as did Miniver..

What one sees as a failure, is probably just a difficult stage.

On this particular topic, it's maybe just a detail of history, in the grand scheme of things.

It has been shown that even the innate nature of men can be adapted by education.
