@robert10185,
Are they rated for the same amperage and voltage?

@bobsal u1553115,
They are both rated 600 volts, but i don't see amps. And i was mistaken, the wire i am trying to extend is 12/3.

The ampacity of an AWG 12 is 20 Amps and that of an AWG 14 is 15 Amps.

You can do your extension provide that you don't use more than 15 Amps on your circuit.

@robert10185,
I just got to ask: do you have a machine shop or did we just do some of your homework?

The shops I've worked in are almost entirely 3 phase, 220. Hardwired.
