Replacing Cheney

There seems to be some rumbling of late among the party faithful for D. Cheney to step down and not run as the vice presidential candidate in the upcoming election. Do you think that will be a plus for Bush's reelection bid? If so who do you think would be a good choice to replace him. There have also been whispers that McCain might be asked to take that spot on the ticket. Do you think there is a possibility that he would?

McCain has about as much chance to be named Bush's vice-presidential running mate as Rudy Giuliani does.

Face it: in order to dump Cheney from the ticket, Bush will have to admit that he made a mistake, and this administration doesn't admit to making mistakes. Consequently, Cheney will, barring anything fatal, be on the GOP ticket in November.

They can always use Cheney's health as an excuse. He has had several heart attacks and has a fibrillator implant.
As to McCain as a replacement logic says no. But remember this is politics and politicians we are talking about.

Hear the Rumor on Cheney? Capital Buzzes, Denials Aside

By ELISABETH BUMILLER

Published: July 15, 2004

ASHINGTON, July 14 - In the annals of Washington conspiracy theories, the latest one, about Vice President Dick Cheney's future on the Republican ticket, is as ingenious as it is far-fetched. But that has not stopped it from racing through Republican and Democratic circles like the latest low-carb diet.

The newest theory - advanced privately by prominent Democrats, including members of Congress - holds that Mr. Cheney recently dismissed his personal doctor so that he could see a new one, who will conveniently tell him in August that his heart problems make him unfit to run with Mr. Bush. The dismissed physician, Dr. Gary Malakoff, who four years ago declared that Mr. Cheney was "up to the task of the most sensitive public office" despite a history of heart disease, was dropped from Mr. Cheney's medical team because of an addiction to prescription drugs.

"I don't know where they get all these conspiracy theories," said Matthew Dowd, the Bush campaign's chief strategist, who has heard them all. "It's inside-the-Beltway coffee talk, is all it is."

It may be inside the Beltway, but in recent days the Washington summer clamor about dropping Mr. Cheney has so greatly intensified that Mr. Cheney himself was forced to address it on Wednesday. Asked in a C-Span interview if he could envision any circumstances under which he would step aside, Mr. Cheney replied: "Well, no, I can't. If I thought that were appropriate, I certainly would."

And the Buzz intensifies. Will Cheney step down?

I think Kerry and Edwards should make a really big deal of this.

Edwards should make comments about the fact that Bush is running ads that include McCain but not his own running mate.

If they make a BIG deal about it then Cheney with his ego won't let them be proven right. We can then insure that he runs and keeps dragging Bush down!

If Bush tries to keep him out of sight then people will start to wonder why.

What's funny is the kerry commercials where edwards does all the talking, that just cracks me up, the only way kerry thinks he can appeal to the public is to let someone else be the face man for his herman munster mug!

"Hi, I'm JFKerry, and I am hiding behind the podium feeding edwards my lkines", ROTFLMAO!
