@neologist,
I have said that for years. Most of the owners -- up and down the chain of command -- are conservative. Paul Erlich was Ira Flato's guest this past Friday and when Flato asked him why scientists are not willing to speak out, Erlich replied that there are more scientists now who are willing but that what we loosely refer to as the media has barred them entry.
There have been recent studies that demonstrate that fox news viewers know less about current events than people who say they never pay attention to any news source. Let's face it, fox news is the beaver shot network. It puts their women -- can we even dignify them with the title, "news reader"? -- in extremely short skirts and sits them on sofas. I swear their audience mainly consists of the viagra crowd, looking to remember their younger days and thrills of the past.
But, enough satire.
I hear the conservative voices, rising to ridicule Erlich. Erlich and Thomas Malthus are popular conservative whipping boys but that says more about the lack of analytical skills on the part of the right. Time and place and history are lost.
Do I think that some of the posters here might be on the payroll of some right wing organization? Why not?
