Hi!
Looks like we'll be moving to Cincinnati (from Louisville) in early August.
I'd like to get some free form information, whatever you, (the reader) think is important. I have a few trivial questions as well; one of which would be:
What is being broadcast from that gigantic tower - around Winton and W Northbend Rd?
Thanks!
Eat dinner, try the soup at Myra's Dionysus--121 Calhoun Street, near UC.
Everything I know about Cincinatti I learned from WKRP, so I may not be much help.
Cinncinnati seven way chili....oh man, do I remember that. Uhm uhm uhm....
We used to play up there at Annies Riverside Saloon back in the day........I got arrested there for indecent exposure in 1981.
They have white bengal tigers at the zoo.
We also played a club downtown once called Alexanders.
I met several very interesting young ladies there.
That's about the extent of my knowledge. I could eat some of that Cinncinnati chili right now.......
I was heretofore unaware that there was life in Cincinnati . . .
I went to Xavier Univeristy there, class of 2001.
All of the place Bear mentioned must be extinct.
It's a beautiful looking city, except for the vast ghetto. It's run by a stormtrooper mayor named Luken, and the CEO of Chiquita Carl Lindner--whose business ethics are quite suspect.
It is the most racially tense city I have ever been in. The police have killed sixteen black men in the past 17 years, six of whom were unarmed. There were riots right before I moved, and the mayor imposed an 8:00 curfew for the entire city, for a couple of nights.
There is life there. Decent music scene, some cool record stores, tons of good restaurants, cofee shops, indie movie theater, art museum etc. etc. Just make sure your kids don't grow up racist pricks, and stay away from the police. And stay away from the sprawling suburbs, if you can.
Oh, and stay away from any Who reunion concerts. I don't trust that even after all these years, folks won't be trampled to death.
Those white tigers are in the Columbus Zoo, so i'm bettin' those hoosiers from Cincinnati stole 'em . . .
I forgot to add, Cincinnati has two amazing public parks. Ault Park and Alms Parks. Really cool places to spend an afternoon.
