@timur,
Proverbs 22:15

If folly settles in the heart of a lad,
The rod of discipline will remove it.

This passage has nothing, whatsoever to do with CHILD ABUSE.

The "'rod of discipline" does NOT mean that a piece of wood/steel/etc is/was used to DISCIPLINE the lad ( age not known, could be up to 35 or more years of age).

Discipline can take many forms, not one of which involves PHYSICAL punishment.

In the US, some killers are sentenced by law to MAX-security prisons where they are held in isolation from other humans. This is the ROD ordered through our courts to issue a form of DISCIPLINE, in which the ROD employed is "human isolation".

If you truly want to understand the words of the Prophets, I suggest that you consult a Hebrew text and seriously study the words.

@Miller,
Don't make me laugh with your crappy exegesis :

Quote:
Proverbs 13:24
Whoever spares the rod hates their children, but the one who loves their children is careful to discipline them.

Proverbs 20:30
Blows and wounds scrub away evil, and beatings purge the inmost being.

Proverbs 23:14
Punish them with the rod and save them from death.

Proverbs 29:15
A rod and a reprimand impart wisdom, but a child left undisciplined disgraces its mother.

No one of any intelligence could deny this -

Psalm 14:1.
Only fools say in their hearts, "There is no God."

Well, I'll have to credit you for exposing his love of straw men. It's a shame you are not equipped to deal with them.

Then, of course, you post a straw man of your own.

Some devils are just destined for hell. There is nothing I can do about that. Perhaps, you can do better than I.

Understanding of scripture comes from the study of scripture.
