@Lilkanyon,
Many scientists are also religious. That's a fact.

@cicerone imposter,
Yep! No doubt about it. They manage to reconcile their career with their religion. How? Idk but they do. Tbh? I dont like our president being a blind believer in God, its a believer in an unproven fact. Its why I could never trust a Romney or a Cruz, too crazy religious for me. I am ok with moderate theology, but not fanatascism. Mormon faith is the ultimate stupidity. I want to respect faith but that one is one step above scientology.

@Amoh5,
just go back in your religion history. Cruzadas were meant to kill the "infiel" and conquer their lands. Women were burnt because they defy the catholic church´s vision of submissive women. scientist were killed for stating the earth rotated around the sun and no the opposite. That was not humanistic or realistic. i agree with you about jesus morality but there are others like with out there. Those hateful christians are inspired and fueled by the Catholic Church teachings

@momoends,
You are correct the message of Lord Jesus gets fogged up by corrupted morons and the obscenitiies of the Old Testament. Lord Jesus clearly says "No one comes to God the Father except through me" And they still continue to stray off into the Old Testament or marvel over the revealation dreams of the apostle John. I can't believe they do this.
When I read the bible I only read the words of Lord Jesus, you can't go wrong if you focus only on what he says. I sometimes wonder who the heck is their teacher?
These other so-called Christians make me shake my head, crazies a bunch of crazies...

Tbh? I dont think Obama is a Christian, in the strictest sense of the word. The problem is, noone can be elected in this country without being a Christian. God forbid, I would have to lie about that if I ever ran for office.
He never makes policy based on religion. He is pro choice, and pro gay marriage. Whatever relationship he may have with God, he has reconciled it with the needs of modern society.
I agree Cruz or Romney is too close to their religion to ever be able to separate that from the state, which is legal to our constitution. I dont believe Trump is religious at all either. He has to hold onto those people that dont even understand God, though read the bible every day and find reason to reject certain sects of mankind.

@Lilkanyon,
Congress passes legislation, so there's no fear of Cruz or Romney's religion. If they veto legislation they're against based on their religion, they're going to have very short terms.

Idk, congress is majority GOP, pressured to the right every day, and add Cruz as prez and he can nominate, and will pass, a supreme court judge...this country could go in a very ugly direction. And many many of the GOP are evangelical leaning, and if not, they pretend to be so. Because the religious right has had an insurgence since 9/11. I never thought the war in Afganistan or Iraq was religious, but it is becoming so more every day.
There is never a winner in religious war. Alot of people die, and it ends with a truce and too much hatred and distrust.

@Lilkanyon,
They are fears, and not reality. It's too bad that the republicans in congress have turned into the "gridlock party," but they won't accomplish anything good or bad. It's up to the voters to replace them if they are unhappy. Otherwise, it'll be same-o same-o into the future. That's what democracy is all about.

@cicerone imposter,
True, cept the country is so gerrymandered today in the Repub controlled states, and due to supreme court rulings on voter laws, are now tipping the scales to make sure they are in power. The constant argument is blacks dont have ID's so GOP forces these laws to reduce the dem vote. They see a loophole they can exploit. A rehash of Jim Crow days.
I live in a blue, progressive state. We have very easy voter laws here. Making it harder to vote makes no sense to me. And the idea of voter fraud is, frankly, ridiculous. Because the GOP cant win with the white male vote alone anymore, they seek to invalidate, or downright repress, the votes of others.

@Lilkanyon,
Here's a good article by the NYT on the GOP's attempts to make voting harder for minorities.
http://www.nytimes.com/2014/03/30/us/new-gop-bid-to-limit-voting-in-swing-states.html

My brother is a republican. I don't understand how he can be in that party. Ignorance about his party is no excuse.

I have a republican friend (why does that sound alot like someone accused of racism says they have a black friend...lol) and I dont expect him to change his party stance just because he is disgusted by todays political issues (and yes he is), but I do hope he votes against it, and I trust his intellect to not vote for Trump just because he has an R in front of his name. I am most ashamed of Kasich that he said he would support the Rep nominee no matter what. It just tells me they care more about winning, or the party, then they do for whats best for their country.

@cicerone imposter,
As for the articles and numerous reports across states Rep dominate, I try to stay informed on their constant attacks on voter rights. It has ramped up significantly since the supreme court allowed laws to go off the books.
I was not a fan of Scalia. May he RIP but ... Good riddance? Good luck getting the modern GOP controlled congress to even open a file on a new nominee. They are acting like a bunch of spoiled brats that refuse to shake an opponents hand after a Tball baseball game they lost. Yes, thats right...a bunch of children.
If my children acted like them...I cant even begin to relate the ass chewing they would get for being sore losers.

The Republicans are anything but losers here. They are just going to hold the position open until President Trump can put forward a nominee.

@Lilkanyon,
It proves they have no ethics. They're like the Germans who followed Hitler, the Russians who followed Stalin, the Chinese who followed Mao, and the Japanese who followed Tojo.
Ironically, I support(ed) the use of the atomic bomb on Japan by Truman. A protracted war would have had more casualties on both sides.

I am well aware of the costs had a traditional invasion of Japan would have cost in lives. As devastating as those bombs were, look where Japan is today. So many people still do suffer for those bombs, but they are aware now how they were propagandized.
