What good does religion offer the world today?

Maybe it was some kind of allegiance ritual to their perception of God?

Maybe?? Why are you avoiding what the Bible clearly states about the reason for the slaughter of animals for sacrifice?

@Glennn,
I'm a Christian, I don't follow that sacrificial perception of God. Like I said, I don't advocate unnecessary cruelty to other species, and the "spirit of God"(or family) belongs to all species. Lord Jesus is the human family spirit of God...

So, you're saying that it wasn't necessary for the people who lived during Old Testament days to kill animals and offer the blood as a cover for sin? You think it was . . . unnecessary and pointless. Is that right?

Leviticus 17:11, "For the life of the flesh is in the blood, and I have given it to you on the altar to make atonement for your souls; for it is the blood by reason of the life that makes atonement.".

Are you familiar with this passage?

@Glennn,
I see some logical aspects to this guess, but I don't understand it entirely. But you must remember science and technology was in a primitive stage at that time. So defence mechanisms would have been limited. A psychology mechanism such as the sacrificial concept may have helped them...

@Amoh5,
It is not logical to overrule the god. What causes you to believe that it is wise to second-guess the god?

It is late. We will continue tomorrow.

@Glennn,
I am only guessing what their perception of God is and how it affected them. My Christian perception of God is somehow different to that one. Maybe I am just romanticizing with this guessing...

@TheCobbler,
The fact of the matter is that there will always be bigots in this country. The likes of Trump brings them out of their holes, because they don't realize what a scumbag, racial bigot, that he is - cause they believe like he does.

@Leadfoot,
Good shot Leadfoot, some good old sarcastic humour for American politics(reminds me of Izzy). Though I saw two thumbs down for your comment, your fellow Americans don't seem to have a sense of humour??

How will (almost) godless religions offer much good ?

Only a little bit what human beings recognized at the creation !

That is NOT enough !

@Amoh5,
Only half joking. For the first time since reaching voting age, I'd cast a vote for 'any or none of the above' if that were a choice. Who are the Libertarians running this year?

@Fil Albuquerque,
Americans seem like moody people to me, maybe thats why they make great actors/entertainers. When you throw humour at them, it depends what mood they are in to whether they want to catch it or not, that's my guess anyway...

@Leadfoot,
I'm not up with American politics, but would Hillary Clinton be considered a libertarian? The joke must be on me now...
