What good does religion offer the world today?

@FBM,
My comment on 6.5 Billion (with a 'B') people being wrong was only in response to TheCobbler's post making the exact same argument. Of course it is a logical fallacy.

I was hoping TheCobbler would realize it as well.

@maxdancona,
When it comes to logic there are a harrowingly few mathematical equations that have two right answers. 1 + 1 does not equal 2 and sometimes 5.

With binary logic, every single case the answer is either zero or one versus, that idea that both answers are equally correct. Religion often chooses an answer without examining even the most cursory of facts.

I don't know what logic you ascribe to but if there were two answers and "logic" were, as you say, then every computer in the world would simply cease to function.

Logic is based upon true or false not half-truths (as religion).

A half truth is like when following directions. Take a left and then take a right then take a left. If that last left is incorrect, will you get to your destination? (Will you get to heaven/paradise?) If logic is so non consequential then religion is fundamentally obsolete.

Yes, let's talk logic, it is a breath of fresh air compared to "blind faith".

1 + 1 = 5 is extortion as is religion.

@TheCobbler,
Now that we have coast-to-coast law and law enforcement, Napoleon's "Religion is what keeps the poor from murdering the rich" isn't relevant any longer. Now police and threat of punishment prevents that.

Religion is utterly redundant now.

@neologist,
Each time I see that name...I cringe.

Don't get me wrong...the guy might be a decent guy. But of all the names he could have chosen...that one cuts deep.

Any idea of why they would allow the name to be used?

Wow...I did not notice that.

Still bothers me.

Still remember Dys kicking me in the head and ribs while I was down on the sidewalk in New York City. Said he had lots of fun slapping me...pretending to be helping me back to consciousness.

Guess I gotta get over it.
