@layman,
It's been awhile since I've been to a blues gig, because the last time was in Chicago on the far north side. JPB even gave me a CD signed by the artist.

Brownie and Sonny doin a tune written and first recorded by Brownie's brother, Sticks McGhee. The Killer (among others) also covered this tune. The "spo-dee-o-dee" thing is something Sticks had to insert to replace the original lyrics for recording purposes. Same number of syllables as "motherfucka," see? "Spo-dee-o-dee" was long used in the south as code so that a black man would call a white boy muthfukka to his face. They all knew, but the white boy didn't.

John Lee doin one of his classic tunes on a South Side street, eh? Personally, I like the scene of the rat crawlin up the fretboard best, I think:

@cicerone imposter,
That was a fun visit. Just seeing this thread for the first time. Will start at the beginning and work my way through.

The short answer is, "Yes!" The longer one is, "Hell, Yes!!"

She has now!!!!! Smile

Still scrolling through the pages to see what's been posted before settling down for a long listen. I saw folks mentioning white Brits, but there's also the white guy from Ireland who is a standout in "modern" blues guitar.

Here's a full hour of Gary Moore featuring Albert King and Albert Collins

This thread is kinda like a personal jukebox for me, eh? I stop in here now and again to listen to a few tunes when things are slow, ya know?
