Quote:The NRA has launched a daily radio program called NRA News. As a media organization, the NRA contends that it would be exempt from a federal campaign-finance law provision that prevents nonprofit organizations from using unregulated money to buy political advertising weeks before federal elections and primaries.
"The great thing about America is there is no test about the right to provide information to the American public," said Wayne LaPierre, executive vice president of the NRA "There is no government licensing of journalists. Tom Paine was free to pamphlet. So are we."
The three-hour program will be broadcast on Sirius satellite radio, with the capability of reaching 400,000 subscribers.
so what do you think? is this free speech, simply bending the rules around campaign financing or legitimate news service? frankly I don't mind one way or another.
Can they launch MoveOn news, or MichaelMoore news?
Anyone can launch what ever program they have the money to. IF you really want to get your "news" from Michael Moore, well I feel sorry for you, but go right ahead.
Like the NRA is an objective news source
(Although I agree that Moore sometimes makes statements of which I say: what?)
Moore usually makes statements that I usually don't listen to. I don't think his "documentaries" are worth talking about or even watching.
The NRA is not objective. They have an agenda just like Dan Rather, Katie Kouric, Michael Moore, MoveOn, MTV etc. Do you really think MTV is sponsoring Goerge W Bush with their Voting Campain?
If you never watch Moore's documentaries and movies, then how do you know they are not worth watching?
On the second part, I agree with you.
Because I know Michael Moores agenda, and I know that his "documentary" about Columbine was filled with falicies. I don't have to watch it to know that he is anti-gun, anti-republican, anti-diet.
I don't watch a lot of shows, but that doesn't mean I don't know what they are about.
When you are anti-something, it doesn't have to mean you are a big fat liar right?
Nope, it doesn't have to, but in this case it does. What are some of the "facts" that he brought up in Bowling for Columbine?
http://www.hardylaw.net/Truth_About_Bowling.html is some support in favor of it not being a documentary and being completely based in Michael Moores own little mind.
An interesting site saintsfanbrian, it does show another side of the story. I'll think about this one.
That's all I ask. Think about it. If Moore hadn't done creative editing, the movie wouldn't have made guns out to be near as bad as people think they are.
By the way, The fat comment was because he could stand to loose a hundred pounds.
I have no problem with the NRA opening a news program.
It is just a legitimate as every other source of news.
Saints, that website is very revelaing, and it just verifies my opinion of Michael Moore.
