Many reasons. The one that jumps out at you, though, is that Putin's state run banks and influence in Deutsche Bank got Trump financing for his projects when he went belly-up financially and no other lending institutions wanted anything to do with him. Trump's financial dependence on staying in Putin's good graces goes back decades.
