Supporters of a ceasefire in Gaza condemned comments made by the former House speaker Nancy Pelosi as “downright authoritarian” after the California Democrat suggested, without offering evidence, that pro-Palestinian activists may have ties to Russia and its president, Vladimir Putin.

Nihad Awad, national executive director of the Council on American-Islamic Relations, called the remarks an “unsubstantiated smear” that “echo a time in our nation when opponents of the Vietnam war were accused of being communist sympathizers and subjected to FBI harassment”.

“Her comments once again show the negative impact of decades of dehumanization of the Palestinian people by those supporting Israeli apartheid,” Awad said in a statement. “Instead of baselessly smearing those Americans as Russian collaborators, former House Speaker Pelosi and other political leaders should respect the will of the American people by calling for an end to the Netanyahu government’s genocidal war on the people of Gaza.”

These genocidal pieces of crap wouldn't know the truth if it bit them on the arse.

Over 22,000 Palestians butchered with American weapons.

I think it has to be obvious to everyone that the Republican Party simply does not have the "right stuff" needed to properly govern.

The only strong reason for voting for a Republican candidate these days is because there is no viable Anarchy Party available for those who want anarchy...and the GOP is the closest thing to that.

@Frank Apisa,
So they failed to indict the ham sandwich.

Of course the ham sandwich had done nothing to be indicted for.

Swalwell on Biden age: 'I'll take the guy who's 81 over the guy who has 91 felony counts'

Source: The Hill

BY TARA SUTER - 02/17/24 6:38 PM ET

Rep. Eric Swalwell (D-Calif.) went after former President Trump for his legal woes in an interview on MSNBC Saturday.

“I’ll take the individual who’s 81 over the guy who has 91 felony counts,” Swalwell said, making a reference to President Biden’s age in an interview on MSNBC’s “The Katie Phang Show” on Saturday.

“It’s not about two individuals,” Swalwell continued, speaking about the 2024 election. “It’s about the idea of competence versus chaos, or even greater, freedom versus fascism. If we make it about those ideas, and what they mean in our daily lives, we’re gonna win.”

Swalwell’s comments come after Trump was ordered to pay almost $355 million in penalties in a civil fraud case and amid increased scrutiny faced by the president on his age and memory in the wake of a special counsel report on Biden’s handling of classified documents. The report noted that Biden had problems with memory and recall.

Leading Economic Indicators No Longer Forecasting a Recession

Leading Economic Indicators No Longer Forecasting a Recession

The change is a reflection of the U.S. economy proving stronger than experts have forecast.

By Tim Smart
Feb. 20, 2024

A forward-looking measure of the U.S. economy continued to decline in January but importantly it is no longer signaling a recession in 2024, reflecting an economy outperforming expectations.

The Conference Board’s leading economic index does project a sharp slowdown in economic activity by the second quarter, however.

The business organization’s index fell by 0.4% last month to 102.7, following a 0.2 percent drop in December. For the six months, the index fell by 3% – a smaller decline than the 4.1% fall over the previous six months.

During the Reagan years, it was claimed he won his two races due to a heavy crossover vote from the dems. I know that my parents crossed over to Reagan and they stayed rep for the rest of their life.

I have not heard that trump gets a large crossover vote, at all. Though, I do believe I have read that he gets a lot of the Independent votes.

Does anyone have any opinion or knowledge?

@BillW,
Democrats don't need Republicans to win an election. In an election with a large turnout (Reagan and Nixon both) requires Democrats to vote GOP.

The general rule is: big turnouts - Democrat, small turnout - Republican.

My dad was a hard hat for Nixon. Other than that and his belief WWF was real sports, he was fairly normal.

Trump gets and got crossover voters. He's successful with low information voters and those who somehow in their success feel they got shafted by "big government".
