To me it is simple....if the NFL wants to be all anal about ball inflation rates then they need to have possession of the balls, not the teams.

Going all law and order on this sure is not going to help the leagues developing labor problem. Increasingly the players dont feel that they are on the same team as the usually very wealthy owners are.

@edgarblythe,
That was a generic you, Edgar. I don't believe that you personally have ever received any suspension from the NFL, either.

@maxdancona,
One is something someone does outside the sport in their private life that reflects badly on the game. The other is one does in the sport to affect the outcome of a game. Employers should care more about what is done at work.

Tom Brady suspended 4 games. Team fined $1 million and will forfeit 2016 1st round pick. What do you think about the punishment?

Outrageous. So what they NFL is saying is that this is 95% Brady's fault. It is almost all the NFL's fault, they who have never cared about this issue and barely watched to see if the balls were with in code.

@hawkeye10,
Balls are always checked by refs before game. The balls were tampered with after they were checked. Unless you want the refs checking the balls before every play, this isn't the fault of the refs and the NFL.

The 2 employees that appear to be directly involved with it have been suspended indefinitely by the team.

For being a stinking cheat on and off the flield, old Brady-Balls should have been suspended for the entire season. As a matter of fact, the old goat should be forced into retirement.

He's a disgrace to Boston, New England and the Irish.

Brady is the one, who should have been deflated, not the balls.

GO BEARS!! Smile

Quote:
The NFL has just stepped in and ended the greatest quarterback argument. That was probably the most fun sports argument of our time, Peyton Manning vs. Tom Brady, with Joe Montana, among others, having guest roles. By coming down so hard on Brady, specifically, they have branded him a full-blooded cheater. To the masses — those being non-Patriots fans — Brady now wears a Scarlet C across his chest. To the masses, Brady’s claim for greatest ever ends here.

This is the world where Roger Clemens lives, where Barry Bonds lives, where Mark McGwire and Alex Rodriguez live. Wrecking legacies has mostly been a baseball thing, but now football is in on the act.

Tom Brady has been the league’s shining star, the golden boy, a billion-dollar draw. And now, the NFL has stigmatized him forever over a little bit of air in footballs and a refusal to just hand over his texts to a league clearly out to get him.

This is not good for business for this reason, and because of the NFL's rapidly escalating tensions with labor.

Another Superbowl victory for Brady will be just the thing to say "F' you" to the NFL.

@maxdancona,
I'd say the best nose-thumb would be for Jimmy Garappolo to win both
games of Brady's suspension.
