That was one of the other dodgy Meyer efforts.Interesting that he´d want to make it at all.Big flop too.He said that it was the last time he´d hire an "actress" for her acting capabilities!
I never thought Meyer reached the potential he may have had in him.
You could say the same thing about Ed Wood, I suppose and at least he sure ended up inspiring one of my favorite films. I can watch "Ed Wood" over and over just for Johnny Depp, Martin Landau as Bela, and all the other performances. And what a script! The Ed Wood/Orson Welles encounter is precious.
are you waiting for me to say "and which film is that Lightwizard?"
Meyers problem was always the manuscript.
Danish TV showed Faster Pussycat...recently and the subtitles read like a comic strip for 6 year olds.
I edited my post -- you're too fast! Meyers showed talent in getting viable performances out of his actors but it's also important that a director get's hold of a decent script! That's the ultimate test of a good script -- read it!
He obviously didn´t!!But what a guy!Russ Meyer, the last true American auteur.
I never miss the opportunity to see:
The Quiet Man
High Noon
The World of Henry Orient
The Big Country
Twelve Angry Men
The Man Who Knew Too Much (Jimmy Stewart, Doris Day)
Casablanca
