@dlowan,
That airport hotel would be zip near where I spent a good part of my life.

I was there when it was a dump, trust me re murders, and another 25 years. Now it's high end. Or maybe not, as they are New Yorking restaurants, gah.
I am not happy about this.

I remember my street with run down bars and so on. We had a gallery there, and we lived in it.

I don't remember us wanting others out of there. I liked the street.

@ossobuco,
I'll interject this - before we took over the 3400 foot space (my salary, futzed), there was a person I take as famous. I'm guessing at this, maybe Barbara
Dimonstein, or a name like that, had the place before us.

The name may be spelled wrong. I think I only saw it once.

@dlowan,
They'll probably just credit your account. It shouldn't take long at all.

@ossobuco,
Not sure if we are still doing airport hotel in LA? The airline changed the schedule and we are now there two nights. Oh, that's weird. Just looked and it looks like only one night again....Holiday Inn, Lax. Get in at 5.00 pm fly out the next night at about 10.30 pm.

Better check with friend as that may be an error.

@dlowan,
I can't make it, couldn't, wanted to. That was my point, that I wanted to meet you again even for an hour or so.

Ok, then you will be in my territory, where I lived for many years, something like '73 to '98. What would I like - that you see if you can look around.
There's a tunnel or used to be, to pass the airport, under Sepulveda. I had trouble seeing driving there, before I knew I had trouble seeing driving.
The marina, just north, was built in my lifetime, me as an early teen, just swampy etc place before it became what it became.
I was afraid of that area, some years later closed my car windows to visit friends in the new apartment buildings, as I needed to drive through Venice to get to their new apartments.

Meantime, I didn't know Venice's history. Interesting place. A dump, interesting dump, and I moved there. When I had a gallery there, still a dump.
I loved the place and still do, decades of living, but that is just nostalgia. We lived there a long time, and I took photos of the streets, still have all of that. But also, some interesting urban design.
To the south, east, north, I know less.

What do I ask? look north if you get a chance, and wink or blink.

@dlowan,
Will do..

Oh, on looking north, I just meant from the airport or from your hotel, not a nag to go there. The airport used to have a tower restaurant, but I don't know if it's still there, or if you could see the ocean or out of the airport at all from there. Plus you see the ocean in your own life, eh?

On good luck charms, I'll hold my key ring. It has a corny "gold" bauble on it featuring the golden gate bridge. Bought it at the San Francisco airport. Tacky, but I like it.

@ossobuco,
Aww! Well, whatever I see of LA will be more than last time....which was crossing from national to international terminals in the dark and fog!

We did indeed! Loved loved loved it except for the heat....or rather, the humidity.

So sorry we missed you.

I'd love to visit again.

We stayed in an apartment in Bywater. Great place to be. Great vibe.

HATED the food, though. Luckily we had a great little local with live music where we could get stuff that wasn't fried and laden with sugar.
