@dlowan,
2nd round, probably 16-20 May, or thereabouts. Fly out 20th.

Hot is daytime highs in the mid-90s, overnight lows in the 70s with lots of humidity.

Those temps shouldn't bother da bunny toooo much - she comes from Adelaide! Although not so humid in Adelaide.

@ossobuco,
Itinerary pretty much blocked out....will have absolute dates in a few days.

San Francisco about 7th May to 10th.

Monterey 11th to 14th.

Seattle about 16th to 20th

New York 20th to 30th

New Orleans 1st June to 5th I think.

Then overnight in LAX on 6th and flying back to Oz.

Sorry....it was Albaturkey or NewOrkeans and friend wanted New Orleans.

@dlowan,
We understand.

I'd like to see you at least at the airport in LA, but no way I can make a trip there this year (fam and friends), far as I can see from here.

I'm excited for you two. To start with, I rather like Monterey myself..

Adds, I like all those places, 'cept haven't been to New Orleans.

@ossobuco,
Sad to hear that. There are some mighty cheap flights if you book early

Airnbn can be way cheaper than hotels. I paid $50 per night in NYC last time.....more this time because we have a studio apartment to ourselves.

Seattle about $50 each per night, in independent bed and bath in a home right in the centre of things. You and diane couldn't share?

I'd not consider LAX....we are just staying at an airport hotel to break up flight from New Orleans to New Zealand.

@dlowan,
Three of my favorite US cities are on this list. Never been to Monterey or Seattle.

@dlowan,
Still trying to track down some dates. I have a work trip/meeting that will likely but not definitely be in L.A., likely but not definitely in early June. But I haven't yet been able to nudge anything out of the "likely" category yet.

If not, New York in the 20th to 30th stretch is a possibility, but we have another pending trip in there.

Will let you know when this stuff firms up. Really would like to see you!

When I first signed up with the United States Army, my contract had me going to Fort Ord, Monterey, California. Never happened as the base was closed down the week or month before I was shipped to Fort Sill, Oklahoma for basic training.

@dlowan,
I have, still, gobs of friends and family there to stay with, but I live with scary financial worries and can't pay the freight.

I love (mostly) travel in the sense I know travel, sort of like you, I think, and am excited for you.

@ossobuco,
But I did end up being stationed in Germany as my new reassignment after basic training and AIT.

@sozobe,
Sadly we are only in LA one night in an airport hotel, just as a break between flights.

New York would be a gas!

@dlowan,
Damn. One of my credit cards got used fraudulently.

Not sure how long it takes to get reimbursed?
