@spikepipsqueak,
Shallow is a disease that more than 90% of all women have. Women will go out with a tall, hot guy even if he's a jerk. Wink

@Dutchy,
Jerks are ubiquitous, sometimes good looking, either gender. You have to spend some time with anybody before you can find out that they are a turkey.

@spikepipsqueak,
Turkey trivia. Turkeys are friendly and curious, they become friendly with the farmer, but gobble at strangers.

@Dutchy,
Strangers have been more help than harm in the course of my life. Blanche Dubois was on the right track.

@spikepipsqueak,
Track 2 of the album "Love' recorded by the Beatles holds special memories for me. It is called "Get Back".

Back when that was recorded life seemed simpler. I hope they are good memories.

Memories fill the mind. Luckily the good memories outnumber the bad.

Bad experience doesn't have to poison the well. I'm working to let go of some of those.

@spikepipsqueak,
Those promises our politicians made at the last election are being reneged on. They're now blaming the present world economic crisis as being the cause for this.

@Dutchy,
This isn't the first time, either. I was maybe 16 when I first noticed a politician reneging on a definite commitment.

@spikepipsqueak,
Commitment is a word politicians do not know. They think it means lining their pockets!

@Dutchy,
Pockets are essential (to me). On the rare occasion I wear a dress or skirt without pockets, I feel unprepared and at a loss- nowhere to put anything to have at the ready without first having to dig through a purse.

@aidan,
Purse strings are often loosened when people can snaffle a bargain. A 50% discount on an everything sale is not something to sneeze at.

Free lunch, is there really such a thing? In my humble opinion you don't get something for nothing, it must be paid for by someone.

@Dutchy,
Someone doesn't want something anymore; they throw it away. You want it; you pick it up.

Up yours is slang for an exclamation of anger, defiance. It is also represented by a one finger salute.

@Dutchy,
"Salute the flag," is an instruction that was uttered by many a teacher, first thing every morning to generations of American school children. In my day, we all readily complied, standing with our right hands held over our hearts, facing the flag which adorned every classroom and saying: 'I pledge allegiance to the flag of the United States of America- and to the republic for which it stands, one nation, under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all."

@aidan,
All over England at this time of night knickers are coming down, nighties are going up, underpants are being discarded and chaps are leaping on ladies who, when one sees them in the garden centres and in the art galleries, one might think butter doesn't melt in their mouths. It's a national disgrane to my mind.

Mind your manners my mother forever advised me. Always say please and thank you at the appropriate time.
