Gooseberries and currants are closely related berry-producing shrubs well suited to home gardens. Hardy and productive, they provide fruit useful in jams and desserts.

Banned books week is observed in America during the last week of September each year. This event reminds Americans not to take their precious democratic freedom for granted.

Granted that a large number of people both inside and outside America want Bush gone, what is the likelihood of a new Republican president? Unlikely.

Unlikely facts include this from the Economist: the happiest people in Asia are the Filipinos. Obviously money doesn't make you happy.

Happy slapping is a fad in which an unsuspecting victim is attacked while an accomplice records the assault. Often those found performing such activities will say they that no significant harm was caused to the victim.

Victim is what certain people feel they are when they suffer the normal trials and tribulations of the human condition. It is all a matter of perception.

Perception is the process of acquiring, interpreting, selecting, and organizing sensory information. The word perception comes from the Latin perception-, percepio, , meaning receiving, collecting, action of taking possession, apprehension with the mind or senses.

Fire services here are called out frequently but usually only to pump out cellars. Sometimes I'm not sure what good they do, pumping water round in a circle.

Circle the earth is what numerous satellites do. I often ask myself, what purpose do they really serve other than a means of communication?
