Establishments of that nature are free of smoke in most European countries too. The Italians took it very badly.

"Badly" is an understatement of how I take the upcoming ban on what JM Barrie called My Lady Nicotine. Thenceforth all conversations will be devoid of interest rather than just most of them as is the case now.

Now there is no evidence that Hungary is the source of the deadly avian flu virus that everyone panicked about last week. Must have been grown closer to home, possibly in one of those sheds holding 160000 turkeys.

Turkish flag is described as follows. Red with a vertical white crescent and white five-pointed star centered just outside the crescent opening.

Opening Christmas and birthday presents is exciting, especially for children. It seems a bit silly to spend a lot on wrapping paper and ribbon but it does look attractive.

Attractive women with a great bust line always catches the eye. Men love breasts, this is a cold hard fact.

Fact, or facts in more general usage, are often unpopular. They often contradict even the the most basic peccadilloes of self satisfaction.

Satisfaction guaranteed. If for any reason you are not satisfied with your purchase, just return it within 30 days of receipt, is the policy of most major department stores.

Stores spend a lot of money on anti-theft lighting and surveillance cameras these days. Unfortunately it increases prices for everyone.

Everyone's Gone To The Moon; ah, the nostalgic sounds of the 60s- whatever happened to Johnathan King? Oh yes, he went to gaol.

Gaol is rather a quaint spelling of jail, and is counter-intuitive, in that the G is soft, which is extremely rare before an A. Margarine, now usually sporting a soft G, but originally hard, is the only one I can think of.

Of all the daft things I could think to say on this thread I can think of only one at the moment. Isn't the "G-spot" soft?

Soft drink originally applied to carbonated drinks and non-carbonated drinks made from concentrates. Today everybody refers to soft drinks as almost any cold drink that does not contain alcohol.

Alcohol is responsible for a great deal of death and destruction, but even Nanny Blair won't take a stand against it. He prefers to deal with lesser killers such as nicotine, heroin and cocaine.

Cocaine is not a substance I have ever been inclined to try. Sucking up a powder through the nose seems somewhat unnatural.

Unnatural death and death by natural causes are tems often heard in a Coroners Court. I submit `unnatural' as `a reasonable suspicion that there may have been something peculiar about the death or that it may have been due to other causes than common illness.

Illness is treated by our health services, but they are fighting a losing battle. Promotion of wellness however is an idea which has only relatively recently taken hold, and may offer the best way forward.

Illness is often exacerbated by stress and by how you feel about the illness. Certain illnesses can be alleviated a lot by the right hypnotherapy.

Forward to victory is a slogan easily spouted in the warm offices of the top brass. They have no intention of going forward themselves because that privilege is reserved for the poor bloody infantry.

Infantry: is this the opposite of adultery? Discuss; or not, it doesn't really matter.
