I'm not sure I buy into this map. I think people are on the average going to bed earlier than what is indicated. I think all the night owls took this survey while the larks were asleep.

@chai2,
It got mine about right. Probably averages out to just before midnight on the annual basis with some nights a little earlier and some a little later.

I usually go to bed at 10:00 pm and lights are out by 10:30 or 11:00 pm.

@ehBeth,
That would be my plan, but the hours between 1 a.m. and 3 a.m. slip by so smoothly.

Various times in the evening, depending on if I haven't finished the New Yorker yet, or have a good book at hand. Tend to rise with daylight.

@chai2,
Usually about 11-ish. Try for earlier but nearly always fail. 12-ish not unusual.

These days 12 - 1230 mostly. When I do not have obligations to get up for my natural bedtime is 2-230, about 4 if I am partying.

I love the night.

@chai2,
Did he account for the fact that Arizona does not recognize Daylight Savings Time?

For us in Seattle, about 11:30

So you're one of those people that needs very little sleep.

Do you enjoy the time you do sleep, or do you begrudge it?

Holy smokes, where are all the people who go to bed at 9pm?

When I worked, I would get up at 5am, so went to bed at 9pm.

If it was a night off, 10pm or 9:30pm was late for me.

It looks like very few people are getting their 8 hours, if they also work during the day.

@chai2,
Raises hand - I usually go to bed around 9:00 - 9:30 and I'm frequently dozing before that. I'm up by 5:30 every day, often by 4:30, except for exceptional circumstances.

I shoot for seven hours of sleep.
I seldom get more than six.
I lay down most nights about 10:00 10:15.....then, if I can keep myself from flipping on the TV....I sleep.
That happens about twice a week, the rest of the week I stay up until after midnight....arrgh... (There's another Jimmy Steward Western on GetTV.) !

then I get less than six hours....

It catches up with me. Yesterday, after running a little over three miles and doing housework, I was exhausted.
I got into bed at 8:30, turned off all the lights and.....slept until 6:30AM.

@chai2,
Depending on the barn duties and our farm needs (not to mention my real work). I can have a weird sleep pattern that lasts for weeks and then go into a normal 8 hour (or 7) sleep cycle.
Right now, since we came home from up north, weve been having to do barn duty by switching breeding rams around with certain pods of ewes(WE DO THIS IN THE MIDDLE OF THE NIGHT). Last week or so I wouldn't get to be till maybe 3 every other day(when its my turn to be the "pimp").

LAst night I got a nice 7 hours up at 7AM reading the paper on line. ( I actually dislike that way of getting my newspaper).
Now with DVRs , I can always tape a TV show and watch it at a time more convenient or maybe just before bedtime.

ooooo.....I was looking at a sheep/goat supply catalogue the other day, and saw those markers you put on the rams chest so you can tell which ewes he, um, bumped up against.

Do you use those?
