Honestly, how many voices do you hear in your head?

I think I understand exactly what you mean joe. I have a lot of different voices inside me.

I thought everyone did, and frankly I'm surprised so many are saying there's just this one person all the time, just feeling different things.

Maybe that's why I so seldom get bored.

Some of my voices are...

Rock Star. When you're singing in the car in the radio, and pick exactly who's in your audience. Ususally I call myself Sting, Janice or Joan Jett. There's a lot of others though.
There's A2K me, which sometimes isn't me at all.
There's swimming pool me, reading a book me, cooking me, me when I have to be around other people etc etc.

Oh, and I have a voice for when I enter a room and ask myself, "Now, what did I come in here for?" A stern, booming, voice tells me,"You know what you came in here for." And that is enough to make me remember.

ITunes and Amazon sell karaoke versions if you really want to spend a dollar. You could burn it to cd from there.

The voice I hear most often I call the Führer; I also hear Unser Hermann and occasionally the old Kaiser. It can be tricky if they start arguing, and even worse if Guy Gibson decides to get involved, let alone his dog.

I ALWAYS call myself David.

A zebra has more than 1 stripe. (If he had only 1 stripe, wud that make him a skunk ?)
My personality has more than 1 aspect to it
and I have presented myself in keeping with the job I have at hand.
Sometimes, that is expected of us.
(I have been quite surprized to get complaints of my being too nice on-the-job
FROM the people to whom I am allegedly being too nice n insufficiently demanding.)
Its similar to dressing differently for different jobs or activities,
but I have only the voice of my own thoughts, which is the same as my spoken voice.

To answer the question though - I hear so many voices I could not possibly list them.

@Linkat,
Does one of those voices sound like Einstein? I wouldn't mind hearing from him. Mr. Green

Loving all these answers.....

I think the different voices are part of consciousness conscious/unconscious divide. That sounds odd.

More thoughts about that later, right now Coach is trying to get me off this chair and out the door for a run.

Boyo would like to check to see if anyone else has played a turn in Words...

I need to go to the jon and let them stay here and figure it out.

Joe(where's my book?)Nation

PS I'm going to look up the novel Snow.

This reminds me of cartoons where you have an angel on side and a devil on the other side talking to the individual in the middle.

I think as a kid that was more my voices as you get older, there are many more voices and it is less black and white.

I'm currently stuck in one of those mirror in a mirror situations with a couple voices in my head. The one that read a ranting screed on another post and thought, "Why would anyone reply to this?" and another one which wants me to put that comment in a reply to that thread.

In general, I have a lot of inner voices. The loudest one is my mother's - she was a walking manifestation of someone who lived by the Golden Rule as best she could. Then there are the ones that bubble up from within that want to call bullshit wherever I see it. They occasionally make it to my mouth/fingertips. There are also the ones that tell me to stfu and go along to get along. I seldom listen to them.

Your stern voice commands respect....mine not as much. It is a must to walk away for me to remember. As soon as I walk away I remember...
