Mom is in recovery, surgeon says it went well. They will move her to a room in a couple hours. Her last knee replacement, the revision, took 4 hours. Guess it must be alot easier with a virgin knee.

Mom is now over at Kaseman rehab and happy to be in familiar surroundings with people she recognizes and trusts. Her favorite PT guy is still working there and they had a great reunion. Tomorrow the staples in her incision come out so it will be a tender day for her.

Will be a tender day for me too, I'm having a root canal done.

Just brought mom home from rehab. She and the dogs are having a love fest. Madison has been continuously licking her for about 15 minutes now. He missed his mama. Mom and Dolly sang a duet and that was enough for Dolly for now until she can get Madison out of mom's lap and have her all to her self to get her own share of licks in.

We will have some home nurses and physical therapists coming in to help get mom strong again. She will be on coumadin for awhile so will need frequent INR testing.

Farmerman, if you are reading this, I know spinach, kale and that sort of Vitamin K type stuff is a no no while on coumadin. Are bok choy and regular iceberg lettuce also things to watch for? I've got some in the fridge and need to use it up soon. I don't recall the iceberg lettuce being a problem, not sure of the bok choy.

@Butrflynet,
It's good to hear that BBB is back home again, and enjoyed such a warm welcome, and many licks, from the rest of the family. I hope Dolly didn't have to wait too long to get her turn in the lap.

How is your mom feeling? Is she in much discomfort?

@firefly,
She isn't in pain, but is very cold. It is about 80 degrees in the house and she is still shivering. No fever, just cold. Probably due to the minuscule amount of food she is eating. She is losing great amounts of weight very rapidly. Her doctor and I are working on this, but mom is very picky, very stubborn and also having swallowing problems with her esophagus. They may have to do a surgical procedure to fix that so she can eat more. Meanwhile, I am sneaking in lots of calories into the foods she will eat since she refuses to drink any of the nutritional drinks I have.
