Chalabi- Truth? Scapegoat? Used and Being Discarded?

With the revelations being reported regarding Chalabi as an Iranian spy, I was wondering what your input might be as to the truth on this matter.

I can see where he might have been encouraged and used by US administration, since there are indications that the War on Iraq was planned even before Bush became president.

I can see where he might have been fed certain information in the lead up to Iraq as a set up for the fall he is taking now... All necessary to justify our attack.

And, I think it is possible that he really was a spy, unbeknownst to our government, but that is harder to swallow.

Any opinions?
