Do you think the US is being imperialistic in Iraq?
What are your opinions on it?
Why do you feel the way you do?
Cereal, I'm taking a break from Iraq. I'll let Tarantrix and Pistoffwarrior go at it mano-a-mano.
Ok. May I suggest a nice bike ride. Be careful though.
The United States is not and has not been imperialist in more than 100 years. There is no reason to think it will have any such tendency in Iraq.
Ooops, I meant Tarantrixfox.
Quote:Imperialism: The policy, practice, or advocacy of extending the power and dominion of a nation especially by direct territorial acquisitions or by gaining indirect control over the political or economic life of other areas
. I dunno Foxfyre, sounds like we fit in there somewhere?
I don't buy it unless there is any documented or even empircal proof that we have any intention of either colonizing or controlling the government of Iraq.
"Regime Change" is the most extreme form of "controlling the government". There is both documented and empirical proof of this.
(p.s. maybe I could be pistoffebrown?)

This is simply not true unless it were to be repeated with regularity based on the Imperialist's view of the colonial government. There is no rational reason to believe such a future is in store for Iraq.

2+ years later...Do you still feel the same way ?
