@izzythepush,
I'm assuming it's someplace in the UK.

Quick, Izzy, tell him I already identified it...so he can pretend that he is ignoring me.

@cicerone imposter,
Why was it named "Lincoln Cathedral?"

@cicerone imposter,
It's in Lincoln. That's the name of the city, capital of Lincolnshire, nothing to do with your president I'm afraid.

@Frank Apisa,
Well done Frank, you were stationed in Lincolnshire if I remember right. Now play nice and post a nice picture.

I swear to you that I was waiting for an opportunity to post a picture of the Lincolnshire Imp, Izzy. When I saw it, I almost jumped out of my skin.

The imp is one of my favorite memories from my days in England.

I remember being told by a guide that Lincoln Cathedral was once the tallest building in the world...and its rose window is larger than the one in St. Peter's in the Vatican.

I did post a picture of it several years ago here in A2K...but I cannot remember the circumstances...or the thread. Maybe it was the one like this numberes #1.

Gotta see if I can come up with something else.

A bit of specificity would make this worthwhile.

@margo,
It's nowhere in Britain, we don't have bus stops like that.

@Frank Apisa,
Ok, some thoughts:

- You should be named Pierre, as Pierre is in South Dakota.
- Mark this: you could be a good chap, man!
- After the event, an Asian lady exclaimed: Oh, no!

The first remark is a bit too subtle for me...but numbers two and three are right on the money, Timur.

Amazing thing...the human mind.

(I'm writing this without reading anything posted after my last post.)

I thought about that first comment Timur made for a long while before leaving for golf...and thought about it while on my way to the course.

Nothing!

And, as I am supposed to do...when I got to the course,I went into golf mode...with very intent concentration. No more thoughts of forum discussions until after the round is over! (I have strained my back, so I have to concentrate especially carefully not to over swing...or the pain will bring me to my knees.)

At some point...while concentrating on a particularly tricky chip...and without a single thought in the direction of the comment...

...I straightened up and shouted, "Holy ****...Pierre South Dakota!"

Sorta like putting aside a tough crossword puzzle and dropping off to sleep...then waking in the middle of the night able to fill in everything with almost no thought at all!

GREAT comments, Timur. This is very enjoyable.

Ahhh...I should indeed...and with the answer staring me in the face. But...I was concentrating on the "Pierre" apparently to the exclusion of everything else.

Yup...that is the Dakota...and the place where John Lennon was gunned down. I visit it often...and Strawberry Fields across the street in the Park.

I was there that night that it happened...on 72nd street (but across the Park). I was staying at the luxury apartment our company had...the bosses were all away in California. I could have walked over there when I heard about it.
