How do you open a mobile phone SIM compartment when you lost the gadget?

I tried a pin with no luck. Too small? Biro nib too big!

Is it a paper clip?

Thank you in advance.

@dlowan,
It's a small circuit card that usually fits under the battery.

@dlowan,
I think you can use a straight (sewing) pin.

@dlowan,
Try again - with a different size pin. Preferably one with the sharp tip cut off.

@dlowan,
What brand/model is it? If I can look at a photo of another one I can get an idea of what you are having trouble with.

On my phone, the battery compartment cover just slides off with a little thumb pressure and the battery lifts out.

If I can see what you are dealing with, I can be more helpful.

In the meantime, do you happen to have an eyeglasses repair kit? If so, one of the tiny screwdrivers that come with it might work.

@Butrflynet,
It's not the battery it's the SIM card holder. They're all the same.

I don't have an eyeglass repair kit and I don't have a paper clip which is what I think I need!

@dlowan,
Done! I used the plastic handle from a weird sort of interdental scrubber I only bought once.

@cicerone imposter,
Well, I suppose most people own a paper clip.
