That reminds me of a time when I was living in Wisconsin. The young receptionist where I worked was Italian (American). We were talking about sauce one day and she said she'd give me her mothers recipe. Now, where I grew up in the NE, an Italian woman, especially a grandmother, would stand in front of a firing line before she would give out family recipes.
So I said "Sure!" thinking I was going to get an old world recipe.
She starts of with, "You take a can of Campell's tomato soup....."
I didn't listen to anything after that.
