@dlowan,
Any dates set for your visit to our area? I'd like to start a new thread on inviting folks to San Francisco for a meet.

On the first San Francisco meet, Francis flew in from Paris, and several others came from Canada, San Diego, and the East Coast. Maybe, we can do a similar feat with this one!

I was trying to coincide with da bunny's trip - but can't manage a 3rd big trip in 9 months. Next year, mebbe!

@cicerone imposter,
CI, I'm actually becoming less sure about getting there this time.

I'm talking with friend I'd be going with today......but it's awful timing.

That's a city I visit whenever possible. Take a stroll on Del Beach (Coronado Island), if not too cool, and you have time.

Da Bunny lives at the beach - so beach walking may not be a priority.

Cool? In August? Really? I've been worried about heat.

@dlowan,
http://gocalifornia.about.com/od/casdmenu/ss/san_diego_by_month_8.htm

Quote:
San Diego Weather in August

Average High Temperature: 77°F/25°C
Average Low Temperature: 67°F/19°C
Rain & Clouds Index: 0.02 inches (0.1 cm) rain, 70% sunshine
What to Pack, What to Wear in August

Pack a mid-weight jacket, especially for evening near the water. Bring short-sleeved shirts and lightweight pants, with a sweater for layering and shorts for the warmest days.

I see. But does da Bunny's beach have gold?

Best beach in the USA, IMO.

Yes, possibly (not cold), but probably not. I've been there in June and it's been cool. Right now is the perfect time to go. You'd be hard-pressed to find bad weather in California any time of the year.

@edgarblythe,
I guess everything west of the Mississippi is going to look exactly like Monument Valley - if you haven't been there. I'm recalling that's where The Searchers was filmed, and with Comanches, no less. Last time there was a Comanche up there, he drove in like all the other tourists.

Off topic but not completely: I got a friend request on Facebook from Maggie Richards, better known as Magginkat. That was nice.
