Now we heave two religious states, Iran and Iraq with possible nuclear ambitions instead of one religious and one secular. Is that not a greater threat?

No, not at all! By overthrowing Saddam
(which Bush stupidly failed to do in the FIRST Gulf War)
we prevented him from buying nukes from half starving Russian scientists
so that he cud not float them on boats to detonate while approaching
American port cities like the one wherein I used to reside.

I remain grateful for the overthrow of Saddam.
I was so frustrated and grossed out by the DELAY
in going to war against Saddam, that I was tempted
to vote against Bush if he failed to do so,
tho I sorely lamented the alternative.

That delay gave Saddam the time to get his WMDs
to the Bath Party in Syria, so thay were gone when we arrived in Iraq.

You mean greater than Saddam Hussein sitting on nuclear and biological weapons he finally perfected, having possibly killed hundreds of thousands of people with them, and dominating the region with the threat of killing hundreds of thousand more? No, it isn't.

Impeaching the poster is irrelevant. I guess that's what you do when you can't prevail in an argument. We know that he didn't have the programs anymore only because we went in, but at the moment that we did go in, he realistically might have. If he had still had them and had eventually perfected them, Saddam Hussein might now have killed hundreds of thousand, perhaps including Americans, with nuclear and/or biological weapons and be dominating the middle east with the threat of killing hundreds of thousands more. He might have sold them to other people even less responsible than he was.

We can't handle what is happening and you want to send troops to die over what may happen. And you won't go do your dirty work, you want guys like me it do it for you and mopes like you want the VA cut to shreds..

Saddam Hussein had had active nuclear and biological weapons programs for years. He had signed a treaty to allow the UN to verify that he had destroyed them, but after 12 years, still could not be persuaded to allow the inspectors free access to verify it. The UN had declared him in material breach of the treaty several times. He was known to be greedy and had already tried to conquer neighbors more than once. Believing that he might just have hidden the WMD programs rather than destroyed them was both plausible and believed by many world leaders including leaders of the Democratic party. This is hardly comparable to believing in flying monkeys.

I were the president, I could stop terrorist attacks against the United States in a few days. Permanently. I would first apologize -- very publicly and very sincerely -- to all the widows and the orphans, the impoverished and the tortured, and all the many millions of other victims of American imperialism. I would then announce that America's global interventions -- including the awful bombings -- have come to an end.
