“We have to recognize that Afghanistan will not be a perfect place, and it is not America’s responsibility to make it one.”
I think Americans have learned that it’s harder to end wars than it is to begin them,” Obama said.
LOL then why did spend billion of dollars and blood of soldiers? Any way thanks to Obama to speak the truth.

Sorry, is this an alternate universe? Didn't we (the US) invade Afghanistan because they sponsored Al Qaeda before 9/11 and refused to extradite bin Laden when we asked? Most people feel like if someone attacks you in your cities and kills thousands of civilians, then you have the right to strike back.
Obama wants Afgh's oil so he's trying to train up the friendly Afgh army and help the friendly Afgh govt get established so he can cut an oil deal with them and bring the troops home.
Hasn't it occurred to him that when he pulls the trrops out, the Taliban will have a free hand to simply blow up all the oil wells and pipelines?

What oil? I was not aware that Afghanistan had any.
Oil industry experts predict that oil will run out "some time this century", and in fact 2010 was the first year when demand outstripped supply.
So Obama (and future administrations) want to get their hands on every last drop to fuel US tanks, planes and warships.
"The Amu-Darya basin..The region is one of four areas in the north of Afghanistan that the US Geological Survey assess to have between them 1.6 billion barrels of crude oil, 16 trillion cubic feet of natural gas and 500m barrels of natural gas liquids.."
