I prefer Gentry's version (although Warwick has a beautiful voice and is probably the best interpreter of Bacharach's music), as it's sadder and downbeat and conveys a far different message from Warwick's poppy and winking version, which skips the last verse, which is the saddest of Gentry's.
What do you get when you give your heart?
You get it all broken up and battered
That's what you get,
a heart that's shattered
I'll never fall in love again
That's a far cry from Warwick's optimistic pop.
