Although she is such a conventional, straight-laced girl, i've always loved Annie . . .

I even like 'em when they're a no-talent, Japanese teen girl group, covering a Karen Carpenter war horse . . .

@chai2,
Good choice, she comes from a very old country music tradition.

It's hard to know what to post from Buffy Sainte-Marie. She changes dramatically from one song to another. She also writes many songs, including this one

@edgarblythe,
Edith Piaf, Monserrat Caballe, Sarah Brighton, Basia Trzetzelewska, Marietta Alboni....where to stop. I particularly love contraltos...still I love all sorts of voices.

@Setanta,
Speaking of Joni Mitchell, I looked up and was listening to my favorite album of hers, Court and Spark.
I hadn't listened to it for more than 35 years I guess. Could still remember every word, but boy I kept laughing each time I realized how much my perspective has changed.

This song of hers, "Car on a Hill" I seriously want to post this to every girl that comes on here starting a thread about some guy they "love", but who treats them like ****.

The entire album is on youtube, I consider every one a gem, even though I can't sing along with her and her high notes.

One of my favorite singer/songwriters:

The girl I wanted to be (I still want to be her):

The woman I wanted to be (and still do)

I fell in love with Dido when Mo was a baby and her music would always calm him.
